You will NOT believe WHO made the famous mobile game, LUDO STAR?
Well, all of us have grown up playing one board game or another, Ludo being one of the most famous amongst them in South Asia. From the 90’s kids, finding someone who’s not familiar with this game would be as rare as finding chips in a packet of Lays…. (joke intended lol). Although the physical board game has gone redundant over the years, someone decided to bring this 90’s craze back to life.
So, let’s see who’s the mastermind behind this…. *wait for it* and the name is Gameberry Labs *party popper fails*
but wait you knew that already, didn’t you? Oh yeah, the name flashes on the splash screen when the app opens..… *smh*
“Nevermind, so what’s the big deal about this ‘Gameberry’? It must be another one of those big game development companies for all I care.”
If you’re thinking likewise than we would really much like to correct the speculations you have in your mind of the makers of Ludo Star.
- Gameberry Labs sound like a foreign company
The company is actually India based, and is operating in Bengalore, Karnataka, India.
- Gameberry Labs must be a big company
The company only consists up to 8-10 employees at a small office in Bengalore.
- Gameberry Labs must have made hundreds of games
They have only made 3 games as per now, of which two are different versions of Ludo themselves. One, the famous ‘Ludo Star’ and the other being ‘Parcheesi’, which is a foreign adaptation of Ludo.
Let us have a look at what their creation Ludo Star has achieved!
- It is currently a hot topic, and is still being played by millions over South Asia
- It released on March 9th, 2017 and in just a period of 5 months has managed to get a total of 10 million downloads with a total of 5 million monthly active users.
- Gameberry Labs made such a BIG game, they must be famous af
Actually no, what fascinated us the most was that the reality was contrary to our expectations of Gameberry labs. Gameberry Labs have a modest online presence with a facebook page having a total of ONLY 45 likes.
The don’t even have a complete website. If you open their website: http://gameberrylabs.com/ , you’ll only find download links to their games, that’s all.
Lesson learnt: Not all BIG surprises come from BIG packages, sometimes the small ones are those who leave us astounded.
We congratulate Gameberry labs on their tremendous success of Ludo Star, and how it’s keeping us busy! …. *please don’t kill*
